Lynda.com - Online Training Library

In the August 2005 NFMUG Newsletter it was announced that the NFMUG CD/Video Training Library was going out of business. What wasn’t mentioned was that NFMUG was not abandoning it’s training commitment, but was moving ahead, in step with today’s technology, to bring NFMUG Members the best and most up-to-date training on all major Mac applications available. To that end, NFMUG has entered into a one year contract with Lynda.com to provide streaming video (QT format), completely controlled and monitored by NFMUG.

Learn the latest tools and techniques in digital media design and development from experts in the field who share a passion for teaching in a generous, caring, honest and unbiased fashion. Discover over 9,300 professionally produced Windows and Macintosh compatible QuickTime video tutorials from over 134 topics available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Included is access to downloadable exercise files for titles that include them.

How does this work?:

1. Go to www.lynda.com and look at the titles available in their Online Training Library.

2. If there is a title you desire training on, send an email to the NFMUG Library Administrator at <training@nfmug.org>, requesting access to the Online Library. Keep in mind that you may access all titles available 24 hours a day and 7 days per week during the period you have access to the Library. You CANNOT download or copy the videos, but you can download the accompanying exercise files, if available for the course you are accessing.

3. NFMUG has five (5) training accounts , and based on account availability, you will receive an email directly from lynda.com with your User ID, Password, and instructions on how to utilize the Library. Additionally, this email will contain the following statement:

“Access to this Online Training Library is provided to you as a member of NFMUG. To insure equitable usage to all members, your account will be active for seven (7) days from the date of this email. The administrator, at his discretion, may extend your usage if there is no demand on the system.”

NOTE: In order to get maximum utilization from these streaming videos, it is strongly recommended that you have a high speed internet connection.
